A Simpler Life

Today, many people believe that Henry David Thoreau had it right when he described a simpler way of life in his book “Walden: Life in the Woods.” The narrative details the two year period Thoreau spent in a cabin he built beside Walden Pond near Concord, Massachusetts in the mid 1800’s. He sought a simpler, more independent way of life, and for those two years, he found it. He kept meticulous records of how he spent his money and where he got his supplies, and he lived as simply as he could. While most of us cannot imagine living so sparsely, those of us who care about the environment realize that something has to be done to save our planet, if not for the present, then for the future. That focus is reiterated in articles found in a sustainable living magazine.
